Location, Travel and Lodging
PHP Vikinger is hold in Skien, Norway. Skien is part of Grenland, and lies in southern Norway about 200km away from Oslo. The location for PHP Vikinger is at Klosterøya close to the eZ Systems offices. Follow the path under on the island to get the the office building.
Travel
Getting to Skien is relatively easy. The closest airport (also served by Ryanair, they call it Oslo though) is Torp (TRF) about 1 hour by car from Skien, 1.5 hours by bus or train. From Oslo takes about 2 hours by car or bus, and about 2.5 hours by train. The train also serves the other airport Gardermoen. From the bus station (A) to the venue (B) is about 10 minutes walking, from the train station about 30 minutes.
From the train station you can take bus line M1 to the bus station, from the bus station you can take M2 (direction Porsgrunn-Eidanger-Brattås) or M3 (direction Klyve-Porsgrunn-Hovet) to the venue. Ask for the stop "Klosterøya" (2 stops from the bus station). More information about busses (in Norwegian) can be found here.
Lodging
There are a few hotels in Skien, Thon Hoyers, Dag Bondeheim and Clarion. They are all close to the venue and are included on the map to the right. There is also a hostel/camp site (Vandrehjem) with a nearby hotel (Hotel Herkules). There is another camp site further away in Porsgrunn: Olavsberget.
